How long does treatment take?
Your first visit can last anything between 30 minutes and one hour and a treatment session about 15 minutes; this may vary according to your condition and needs.
How often do I need to come for treatment?
This will depend on various factors; e.g. your particular condition, how severe it is, how long you have had the condition and your response to treatment - including how much of your chiropractor's advice you follow.
Discuss this with your chiropractor, who will explain your individual treatment programme with you.
Will the treatment hurt?
Chiropractic treatment is usually painless. If you have acute muscle spasm, when even the lightest touch hurts, there may be some discomfort. Sometimes, if you have had a problem for some time, you may feel sore whilst your body starts to adjust - your chiropractor will advise you if this is likely to happen.
Do I have to pay for my treatment?
You will need to pay for your treatment; if you are covered by private medical insurance you will be able to reclaim your costs from your insurer.
What is the difference between chiropractic and osteopathy?
There are differences in technique and approach as well as some similarities. The important factor is that the practitioner is well qualified. Both professions now have statutory regulation.
